Code of Conduct

Eatable Stories is a Colombian tour operator registered in the National Tourism Registry (RNT 271715). In compliance with Law 679 of 2001, Law 1336 of 2009 and Resolution 3840 of 2009 of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, we adopt and apply the following Code of Conduct.

It binds our legal representatives, directors, managers, employees, guides and contractors involved in providing tourism services.

The measures we adopt

1. Never to offer, in tourism promotion or tour plans, expressly or covertly, any form of sexual exploitation of children or adolescents.
2. Never to give travellers information, directly or through others, about places where the commercial sexual exploitation of minors is arranged or practised.
3. Never to take travellers, directly or through others, to establishments or places where the commercial sexual exploitation of minors is practised.
4. Never to take minors, directly or through others, to places where travellers are lodged, whether national or foreign.
5. Never to rent or use vehicles on tourist routes for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse of minors.
6. To prevent minors from entering hotels, lodgings, bars, similar businesses or any establishment providing tourism services for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse.
7. To report to the competent authorities any act we become aware of that constitutes sexual exploitation or abuse of minors.
8. To design and publish an internal ESCNNA prevention policy, and to communicate it to our suppliers and partners.
9. To train all our personnel in preventing the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.
10. To inform our guests of the legal consequences in Colombia of the exploitation and sexual abuse of minors.
11. To display this Code of Conduct where employees can see it, and to publish it on this website.

Legal consequences in Colombia

The commercial sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children and adolescents are crimes in Colombia, punishable by imprisonment. The Criminal Code punishes, among other conduct, demanding commercial sexual exploitation of a person under 18 (art. 217A), sexual tourism (art. 219), using or facilitating means of communication to offer sexual services involving minors (art. 219A), and sexual acts with a child under fourteen (arts. 208 and 209).

These offences are prosecuted whether committed by a Colombian or a foreign national, and many countries additionally prosecute their own citizens for sexual offences against minors committed abroad.
